Anchor Text Is Vital To Google

I have been learning a lot about "anchor text" from Stomping The Search Engines. (see Brad Fallon's Blog)

Anchor text is the hyperlinked words on a webpage that people and search engines follow to the next site. You can use descriptive text like Replacement Windows or Pregnancy Calendars which is far more "attractive" to the engines. Or you can be a boob like me and use lousy anchor text. Check this out...

On my big site at I LOVE MLM I counted over 300 hyperlinks internally with the horrible anchor text "Click Here". If you search google for "Click Here" the #1 listing is for Adobe Acrobat. I view those 300 internal links as very valuable! I can now use proper anchor text like #1 MLM Trainer to boost that phrase and my site in the engines.

If you have a choice between great anchor text or bad anchor text, do whatever you can to use your keywords as the underlined part.

Amazon Associate Engine - Two Thumbs Up!

I just wanted to post a quick note and a public "Thank You!" to David Cusimano. He is the genius behind Amazon Associate Engine. I have never been much of a tech guy, and yesterday I installed my first successful perl script all by my lonesome!

AAE allows webmasters to create webpages quickly that use the Amazon XML feed. That's geek-speak for a cool program that let's me make tons of Amazon store webpages on keyword rich topics on my sites linked with my affiliate codes.

I screwed up one piece of the install and Dave was super helpful with great support. This is how you make an impact in the 21st century - high tech and high end support.

The pages aren't up yet but will be at MLM Books

Where Did August Go?

I have an alarm set in My Yahoo Calendar to remind me when its time to write my monthly newsletter, The Razor's Edge. All month long I collect topic ideas, faxes from subscribers, news articles and compile a pseudo-outline on the fly. My monthly alarm just went off. I can't believe summer is nearly over and my September issues rolls out in 9 days.

By taking 5 minutes a day to compile article topics I can sit down, mentally clear my plate, and create an 8-10 pages newsletter in about 7 hours.

September will be a huge month. Back to school, back to work for millions of people. Watch your traffic logs increase. Now we see what marketers paid the price this summer and built highways to their websites....
