Smartest Traffic Idea I Had in August
Backlinks are critical for traffic to a website. Who links to you? Search engines like Google are very picky about backlinks. If you have a new website, and no one links to you, then your traffic will suffer.
Smartest thing I did recently? I hired a freelancer to organize reciprocal links for me. I have a brand new website Free MLM Training that went live on August 11th. My Link Manager organized about 20 reciprocal links with PR3 or higher sites in about 3 weeks.
You can find freelancers on sites like Elance. A project can be done per link. In my case it was under $100. Money well spent as the site is already averaging 10-15 hits a day just a month later.
It was one of those things that I had been meaning to do forever. Glad I followed through!

Are you Blogging yet? What about RSS? Come on!
Guru Prediction #64
There will be nothing hotter over the next 6 months than blogging and RSS feeds!
I have already devoured 2 great ebooks on the subject this month alone. Now that Yahoo has added an RSS reader directly into My Yahoo, the Opera browser has it built in, and the next generation of Internet Explorer will as well, you can see the major firepower lining up for this trend.
Example - you can list your RSS feed at over 50 sites like PopDex for one.
I listed this blog at about 10 sites this morning and have an extra 8 subs in about an hour....think of RSS as the "next big thing" where email marketing meets search engines in a beautiful hybrid.
Bottom line? Get yourself a blog, get educated, and get rssing!

A Blog Directory And Some Time Ideas....
I found a site that lists blogs by category.
A coaching client of mine has a new website under construction at Teen Diet Secrets
It seems like I am doing an awful lot of internet consulting in the last few months. Its keeping me hopping, and the variety is keeping it fresh. The web is so mainstream now, just another marketing angle like the yellow pages or the sign outside a store (only way, way way more powerful IMHO!)
Today is the first day of autumn...the third quarter of the year is nearly behind us. It is so important to have written goals and a plan for every year. A day gets away from us, we lose momentum over a week, and bam! before you know it a quarter is gone. F-O-C-U-S is so vital.
Smartest things I've done this year? Got rid of my telephone. Since June it is impossible to reach me without an appointment. And getting an appointment requires filling out a form and faxing it to my PA...it has done wonders for my productivity.

Free Blogs
You can set-up your own free blogs at Blogger, Blog City and Blog Drive.
Interesting point - while it may take weeks or months to get your website indexed, the search engines visit blogs nearly every day!

The Next Big Marketing Idea
I just got back from the bookstore with what looked like a box of cereal. Even the cashier at the bookstore was puzzled by it.
The box is bright red and yellow, with graphics of a superhero and milk and cereal in a bowl. In giant letters it says, "Free Prize Inside!".
It's Seth Godin's newest book. You must get this book....this box...this marketing wakeup call! Seth Godin is the author of Purple Cow, Permission Marketing, The Big Red Fez, and Unleashing The Idea Virus. He's pure genius.
When you get this book, your jaw will drop. The impact is that astounding. I love it. Go buy it now, thank me later.

Blogs and My Yahoo
I've been obsessed with blogs and the new XML feeds for My Yahoo. I use My Yahoo as my homepage, and they have made it super easy to add blogs like a customized newspaper.
If you use My Yahoo, you can add my blog instantly to your reading page by clicking the little Yahoo icon on the right hand bar. It is super fast, and super easy to narrow in on topics that interest you.
I've also been experimenting with anchor text all month. Whether you kid around with stuff like Pregnancy Calendars or become obsessed with dominating Google, it is powerful. In just one month I have become the #1 MLM Trainer
Well?

What My Doctor Doesn't Know Can Hurt You....
I went to the doctor today with my wife for our annual physicals. We got there at 7:45 a.m. for an 8:00 am appointment...the waiting room was jammed! We were about 40 minutes late getting to see the doc. When I left, the waiting room was still jammed...I'm telling you, the biggest trends over the next 20 years will be taking care of the huge masses of old, sick, broke people! Figure out how you can get a piece and you'll do well....
The exam room was frightening...posters covered the wall from major drug companies...you name the TV commercial, it had a poster on his wall. I feel sorry for him. Very educated, extremely experienced, super nice doctor....and yet he gets most of his new health information from drug reps with an agenda. He spends his entire 12 hour day seeing sick people every 15 minutes like a human conveyor belt....I'm kind of glad I got a D in Calculus and dropped out of pre-med 18 years ago. Welfare To Millionaire
Whatever you do...take care of your health!
